We at the Baxter County Assessor’s office are here to serve you the tax payer. Below is a summary of the responsibilities of the Office of Assessor. If you have any questions please call us at (870) 425-3453.

The County Assessor is responsible for the appraisal and assessment of all personal property and real estate property in the County. He or She is also required to maintain those appraisal and assessment records by staying abreast of all property transactions within the county and keeping a file on all properties which are updated throughout the year.

The County Assessor’s office must appraise and assess all personal property between January 1 and May 31. Any person owning personal property must assess their property. Assessment taken after May 31 will be charged 10 percent penalty. All property in the state shall be assessed according to its value except merchant’s inventory, which is assessed at its average value during the year immediately preceding the first of January. If a property owner has a dispute of the value of their property, the property owner may request a hearing with the Board of Equalization through the County Clerk’s office between August 1 and October 1.
